I played with this a little more to give it a warmer hand sketched look. I kinda dig the rougher feel of the cow below. What do you think? What style do you think children’s book publishers would welcome more? Click on the cow to see it up close.

Ha!! I love this well-choreographed chaos you’ve got going on here here. Clearly Cindy’s got some skills. I love how unfazed the animals look– like this is a weekly occurrence they’ve just learned to live with. :)

Ha…I thought the same thing about the horse - cute detail to include! That Cindy REALLY needs to be wearing safety gear!! This is so very clever, crisp, and really cute and endearing. As to the styles that children’s book publishers would like - I was recently given a very good piece of advice - “there is no substitute for good design” - and you have that nailed - your character work is superb! I happen to like the sketchy version of the cow because it gave her a bit more dimension - she pops more - but again, your fundamentals are more than sound - your image is delightful and would be a memorable one for kids and adults alike. Just love it!!

I really like the extra mile you went to add more sketchiness. I think it also adds more motion. It would add a lot more interest to the whole thing and would be less flat. Your question about the children’s book preference is a good question I’ve been asking myself too. It seems like they like warmer, hand-done (looking) work more.
